RETURN TO PLAY from 29th March 2021

  • RATC Article Date 21.03.2021 - 09.33pm

We know how important it is for people to be active, and the role tennis can have in the physical and mental wellbeing of those that play it. By its very nature, tennis is an activity whereby close person to person contact can be avoided, with the Government saying tennis is a good example of an activity that can be undertaken in a way compliant with social distancing restrictions.

Based on Government guidelines, and following the adjustment of lockdown restrictions from 29th March 2021, the RATC has developed a set of practical guidelines for Members (and Members Guests) to follow so that tennis can be played at Royal Ascot Tennis Club, with STRICT Restrictions as follows:

  • Maximum of six people per court (i.e. Singles / Doubles play only), unless an organised Group Coach Led session. Players can be from different households
  • Organised group activity is defined as being activity organised by a national governing body, club, registered instructor/coach, business or charity, where in all cases the organiser must conduct a risk assessment and take all reasonable steps to limit transmission of the coronavirus by reference to that risk assessment & all relevant COVID-19 Secure guidance. This covers formally organised group sessions and coaching – detailed guidance for delivering this activity will be provided in the full LTA COVID-19 Secure guidance documents.
  • You are not permitted to play if are Self Isolating for any reason (showing symptoms / track and trace contact / return from a holiday in a Government highlighted region.)
  • Coached sessions permitted, but need be booked / recorded through booking system, and attendees names recorded. Junior sessions restricted to maximum of 15 plus Coach.
  • Members may enter Clubhouse to access toilets and floodlight switches only. No use of changing rooms (except for disabled), bar or kitchen facilities. Please use the Hand Sanitiser provided inside the clubhouse, for hands and equipment (door handles, light key, light boxes).
  • All activity must be consistent with the government guidance regarding health, travel, social distancing and hygiene at all times. LTA Guidelines on Playing Tennis during Covid 19.
  • All courts need to be booked through Clubspark (Paid Members Only).
  • Maximum court booking 90 mins (no consecutive bookings)
  • Please use the appropriate gate for the court (to avoid crossing courts)
  • Please bring your own balls.
  • Change ends using different sides of the net (to ensure social distancing)
  • Please remember to bring hand sanitiser, gloves etc for use after using the court gates and locks.
  • Use of the RATC courts and facilities is entirely at your own risk.
